Mafuta : The Cat Saved from Machine Oil
Every day, "Cats in Need" team based in Phnom Penh is taking care of stray cats that people often leave at their nearby pagodas. Some people believe that pagodas are safe sanctuaries for cats, but the reality is far more difficult. Many are left at these religious sites, where they face significant challenges like overpopulation, lack of food, and limited veterinary care.
A small, once-beautiful light orange tabby cat was found, its fur matted and clotted with dark machine oil. This incident reminds us to consider how we protect the vulnerable beings around us. During colder months, cats may seek warmth by crawling into car engines, putting them at risk of being injured or covered in oil.
Alla, woman with great compassion, rescued her. As a member of the Cats In Need team, Alla's home is a haven for the many cats she fosters, which shows her beautiful spirit. They went to Animal Mama Veterinary Hospital and Emergency, which has been helping Cats in Need since the beginning. They thoroughly checked everything and professionally cleaned her fur. Their long and delicate process was done with care so it wouldn't further irritate her skin.
In Alla's loving care, the oiled baby, now named 'Mafuta', began her journey to recovery. With the expert support of Animal Mama Veterinary Hospital and Emergency, a partnership of pure kindness, Mafuta received the best possible treatment. This collaborative effort, fueled by unwavering dedication and boundless love, set Mafuta on the path to a brighter, healthier future.
Days turned into a week. Mafuta was getting there. The skin on her back continued to peel, revealing only bare skin and bones of dead tissue. Alla made her a cone from a mask and socks that was the size of her full body. Bandages covered most of Mafuta's tiny body, and Alla gave her proper food after she had scavenged for her own meals for a long time.
There were moments when Alla wondered if Mafuta would make it or what she would become. Mafuta developed a high fever, flu , and had four different types medicines.But then, almost miraculously, she'd rally, jumped, and purr.
Slowly, painstakingly, new skin began to appear. The smell of the machine oil faded. Mafuta's eyes, once dull and fearful, began to hold a spark of life. She healed, her body was a patchwork of bald spots and scar tissue,become shining sparks of miracle.
Everyone that was dismissed by her condition, fell in love with her beauty. And for Alla, that was everything. She knew adopting Mafuta was not just an option, but a necessity. The journey of healing, both physical and emotional, was just beginning for them both.
